Heather Awad, M.D. is a board certified Family Physician who devotes her professional time exclusively to Medical Acupuncture. She is a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians. After graduating from Carleton College, she earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1996. Dr. Awad did her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, St. Margaret Hospital. She practiced Family Medicine until she became interested in acupuncture. She was accepted into, and graduated from the Helms Medical Institute, Medical Acupuncture Course. This is considered the premier acupuncture course for physicians.
In her earlier years, Dr. Awad grew up in Michigan, and came to Minnesota to attend college. She met her husband in Minnesota, and they have four daughters. In her free time, Dr. Awad enjoys listening to her kids play violin, string bass, and guitar; traveling, reading, yoga, and visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
